How To Become A 4-H Leader

Leaders are what make 4-H possible. Nearly 750 volunteer leaders are giving 10,000 Snohomish County youth the experience of 4-H. There are opportunities that can fit your busy time schedule and skills. Training from 4-H staff and mentorship from experienced 4-H leaders support you in what you chose to do. As an enrolled leader, you are insured against injury on the job as if you were an employee. Here are the various types of volunteer positions available in 4-H:

Activity Leader - Lead or help with an activity within a club or at the county level

Club Leader - Supervise or co-supervise a 4-H club in your community

Program Leader - Coordinate a program at the county level (such as public presentations or goats) that has the involvement youth from various clubs

Fair Superintendent - Actually employed by the fair, these positions facilitate fair entry regulations and coordinate activities during the fair for a 4-H program or group of programs
