2012 Bugs & Blights Monthly SeriesImported Currant Worm

Early detection and diagnosis are key to successful management. Learn to identify insect, disease, and plant problems as they develop throughout the year. Join WSU Entomologists Sharon Collman & Dave Pehling as they explore the pest and pestilences of the month along with the clues given signaling their presence. Build your dictionary of clues for accurate diagnosis. Lecture and hands-on. Focus on pests & pathogens found in nursery, greenhouse, landscape, and agricultural settings.

When: 10:00 am to 12:00 noon, the 4th Wed. of each month.

(No class August, November or December.

10:00 Short quiz
10:14 Short lecture focusing the subject of the month
10:45 Lab samples
11:45 walk-about if weather permits
12:00 adjourn

Bring bugs and disease/plant samples you want identified and your questions. For the bugs, freeze, then air dry and place in pill bottle, deli or other container. If several use tissue to keep them from bouncing around. If soft like caterpillars place in pill bottle with hand sanitizer. Be sure to take them off the windowsill and bring them with you.

The workshops are held in and around the Extension Education Center in South Everett at the back of McCollum Park, 600 – 128th St. SE. The cost is only $20 each.
